To give us what we expect.  Margaret Mitchell (she wrote Gone With the Wind) may have had our challenges in mind with these words.  They could also mean that we can set a better course when so much is in flux.  Nature abhors a vacuum, after all.  We’ve messed up so many forks in the road lately.  Maybe we’ll do better with the ones in store.  Pay it forward and pass it on.
