What We Do… and What’s Unacceptable
For The Family encourages people to honor the Golden Rule by being their brother’s keeper.
However, our services are not an open invitation, a blank check, or a cure-all. They represent our sincere effort to enable people to offer and receive a maximum degree of assistance in a safe and convenient way, and with minimal liability to all. The best way to fulfill our moral commitment (and allow others to fulfill their own) is to clearly state the following in no uncertain terms:
For The Family, Inc., its Agency Partners, and its referral sources assume absolutely no stated or implied liability for actions or outcomes that either directly or indirectly derive from the discharge of agency services. All participants do so of their own volition, and we strongly urge those with reservations to withdraw from these services and/or seek suitable alternatives immediately.
This same protection also specifically applies to Mentors and Associates in the Family Referral Network (e.g. Community, Motherhood, and Parental Mentoring Initiatives), as well as Hosts and Guests in Shelter Is Golden as long as they adhere to the procedures required to participate in these programs. However, their protection is abrogated if these individuals either violate the law or commit transgressions that are outside the procedural scope of their involvement in For The Family, Inc. These include (but are not limited to) inappropriate sexual conduct, physical intimidation, or any other action inconsistent with the mentoring and emergency preparedness services offered by For The Family, Inc.
Should this be the case, For The Family, Inc., its Agency Partners, and its referral sources assume absolutely no stated or implied liability for any and all resulting actions or outcomes.
If Agency Partners, referral sources, Mentors, Associates, Hosts, and Guests are unwilling to accept these conditions; their participation is unacceptable to For The Family, Inc.
