Bruce Springsteen wrote those lyrics in The Rising shortly after 9/11. As millions more become unemployed and thousands more perish in the pandemic, we can still rise again. It takes a giving spirit, caring actions, and a healthy dose of kindness toward one another. Our character is being tested, and the grading curve has to rise higher than COVID’s. Failure cannot be an option, and neither can selfishness. Pay it forward and pass it on.
